WHO WE ARE
V.S.T. Vini e Spumanti
The VST company was born in 2015 due to a generational change and now is managed by the sibling partners and by the father. Silvia takes care of the administrative and accounting part, Tiziano of the technical part and the father follows the production part in the wine cellar. It is important to mention that the vital experience in the wine sector was still born 70 years ago from grandfather Silvio.
Following him, his son and grandchildren: Mario, in the title of oenologist conferred in 1978 and his nephews, Tiziano and Silvia in the name of oeno-technitians. Both VST partners manage 2 farms and they own a total of about 60 hectares of vineyards. The grapes grown by the two companies are then transferred to the VST company.
The particular attention to ethical sustainable aspects is significant for the “young” managers: in fact the vineyards of both farms and the VST winery are SQNPIcertified, an acronym that certifies, through specific technical standards, compliance with binding phytosanitary indications including agronomic practices and limitations in the number and choice of products used during treatments.
Furthermore, from this year the plantation of a resistant vine variety (Joaniter vine) has been undertaken.
Recently VST has invested in the diversification of its products, buying a small farm in Puglia to produce Primitivo and other autochthonous wines of the Apulian territory.
In addition to making wine from the grapes of its own family businesses, VST buys grapes and wines from other farms in order to have an extended offer for the potential customer.
Furthermore, a tolling service is offered for other important wineries, guaranteeing a final product as precise as possible to what is requested. Precisely, all the vinified and sparkling wine production is ther sold and formatted according to the customer’s needs. The sale can be offered in bulk, in tanks, in bottles, in kegs or even in cans (new entry 2022).
It can be summed up that the company follows the product chain from the raw material to the final product. In order to allow this, there is a well-equipped laboratory with constantly updated instrumentation for all chemical and microbiological controls.
Speaking of quantities, in total the company has a capacity of 50,000 hectoliters and it processes 140,000 hl.
With the new canned wine project, the two partners wanted to broaden their philosophy regarding the approach to sustainability and environmental protection. Thus was born in 2022, Italian Wine Can, or a new line of ready-to-drink canned products. These are products that embrace the term sustainability and the following reasons demonstrate this:
• For the material, since the can is 100% aluminum which is a material that can be recycled indefinitely, unlike plastic which degrades after being recycled a few times. Cans have an overall recycling rate of around 70%, much higher than glass (around 35% and plastic (9%).
• For distribution, proven by the fact that the cans are light and easily stackable, saving 40% of space compared to glass. This means fewer vehicles on the road, less weight and, by extension, less fuel.
• And finally for consumption. Being ready to drink, no glassware is needed, saving on glass production and recycling and, more importantly, no commercial glass washer that consumes water,
electricity and dumps toxic chemicals down the drain.
